Responsible activity is of first and foremost concern for a customer-owned finance company, such as Tapiola.

During recent years, Tapiola has consequently worked to improve the quality of its customer service. As a result of this, Tapiola was awarded the Finnish Quality Award 2000. In addition, the Group has been honoured for its exceptional work in environmental issues. Since the mid 1990’s Tapiola has introduced consumer political aspects in its development work. The development work continues.

Economic Responsibility

The economic responsibility is a primary concept in corporate business. It creates opportunities for responsible activity also in other fields of business. Profitability, competitiveness and efficiency are important parts of the economic responsibility.

Tapiola strives to maintain the solidity of the Group’s four insurance companies among the best in the country. Therefore, we can make long-term investments and offer good benefits for our clients. The business of the finance companies in the Group is based on cost efficiency and stable economic platform.

The most significant principles in investing are safety and yield. When selecting investments, Tapiola wants to avoid investments whose values and principles contradict with ours.

The profit of our business is used for customer benefits, premium discounts and to strengthen the solidity which is significant for the risk-carrying capacity.

Social Responsibility for the Future

The social responsibility of the Tapiola Group consists of responsibility for people, organisations and activities in cooperative networks. The goal of the responsibility is divided into two: the responsibility for personnel and the responsibility for other interest groups.

Reliability is the most important value for the Tapiola Group. The ethical activity has been one of our values since the late 1980’s. The management of Tapiola has actively participated in the discussion on responsibility for the society. In our activities we want underline that we exist for our customers. The well-being and success of our personnel is one of the strategic guidelines of the Tapiola Group.

Environmental Responsibility

The finance sector is not one the most polluting businesses. By offering risk management, insurance, bank, savings and investment services, Tapiola wants to support its client companies in their environmental strategies.

Tapiola’s environmental policy is based on the values and strategy of the Group. The environmental responsibility is one of Tapiola’s ethical values. Tapiola wants to be identified as a Finnish finance company with environmental awareness.

Tapiola takes Responsibility in Environmental Issues

  • Tapiola has confirmed an environmental strategy and plan, which strengthens the linkage between environmental and social responsibility. Tapiola will actively participate in discussions on environmental responsibility, develop the internal environmental responsibility and decrease external environmental effects.
  • The results regarding environmental responsibility are
    presented in a separate social responsibility report. The report is available in electronic form.
  • In environmental issues Tapiola supports its customers by offering e.g. risk appraisals and consulting in loss prevention. In addition, Tapiola has since 1999 offered insurances for environmental responsibility.
  • In 1997 Tapiola confirmed its first environmental policy and launched the development of environmental responsibility.
