Patrick Peugeot of France was appointed President. In addition to Kalpala, two other Vice-Presidents were appointed: German Werner Görg and Italian Angelo Piloni.
The appointments took place in Berlin at the 40th anniversary of AISAM.
It was demonstrated in the anniversary meeting that the European mutual insurers have been able to maintain their market positions despite the difficult economic concept.
What is AISAM?
AISAM, International Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, was set up in 1964 by a group of mutual insurers. Today, AISAM headquarters is located in Amsterdam. After many years in Paris, AISAM has moved its secretariat to Brussels.
AISAM is a source of communications, information and representation vis-à-vis national and international organizations and government bodies as well as others that are active in the insurance sector in general and the mutual insurance sector in particular. AISAM’s duties include providing information relating to, and defending the principles of, mutual insurance.
Members are given the opportunity to exchange information and experiences and to seek solutions to the challenges faced by mutual insurers. AISAM also puts forward proposals for solutions to the pertinent bodies and organizations. Lastly, AISAM, a majority of whose members are European mutual insurance companies, is in touch with the European Commission on a regular basis in order to back and promote mutual ideas and values.
